PRINT INFORMATION & CARE
Soda City Minis prints are made for modelers, builders and hobbyists. Our parts are printed in small batches and may require some light cleanup and preparation before use.
Because 3D-printed parts are different from injection-molded plastic, please take a moment to read the information below before purchasing.
RESIN PRINTS
Most of our small-scale detail parts are printed in resin for sharp, fine details.
What to Expect
Resin-printed parts are supplied unpainted and may require some cleanup before painting or installation.
Depending on the part, you may notice:
- Small support marks or attachment points
- Minor print lines or surface imperfections
- Small amounts of cured resin from the printing process
- Slight variations between individual prints
These are normal characteristics of resin printing and are not necessarily defects.
Supports & Cleanup
Some parts may arrive with supports still attached. This allows us to better protect delicate details during shipping.
Carefully remove supports using appropriate hobby tools. We recommend working slowly and carefully, especially with very small or delicate parts.
Please note: Resin can be brittle, particularly in thin or delicate areas. Soda City Minis is not responsible for damage that occurs during support removal or cleanup.
Before Painting
For best results:
- Carefully remove any remaining supports.
- Clean up support marks or attachment points as needed.
- Lightly sand surfaces if desired.
- Wash the part if necessary to remove dust or residue.
- Allow the part to dry completely.
- Prime before painting.
Always use appropriate ventilation and follow the safety instructions for any paints, primers, solvents or hobby products you use.
Handling & Storage
Avoid excessive bending, force or heat. Resin parts can become damaged if handled roughly or exposed to high temperatures.
Store finished or unfinished resin parts in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
FILAMENT PRINTS
Filament-printed parts are produced using thermoplastic filament and are available in a variety of materials depending on the product.
What to Expect
Filament prints may have visible layer lines and other characteristics associated with FDM 3D printing.
Depending on the part, you may notice:
- Visible layer lines
- Minor surface variations
- Small seams or print artifacts
- Support marks
- Minor imperfections from the printing process
These characteristics are part of the FDM printing process and are not necessarily defects.
Cleanup & Preparation
Some filament prints may require minor cleanup before use or painting.
You may wish to:
- Remove any remaining supports or unwanted material.
- Trim small edges or strings with hobby tools.
- Lightly sand the part if a smoother surface is desired.
- Prime before painting.
Take care when trimming or sanding small parts so delicate details are not damaged.
Painting
Filament-printed parts can be painted using hobby paints appropriate for the filament material.
For the best finish, we recommend cleaning the part, lightly sanding where needed, and applying a suitable primer before painting.
Handling & Storage
Avoid excessive heat. Some filament materials can soften or deform when exposed to high temperatures.
Store parts in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
